News articles
Sweden’s representative to SNOMED International is the Swedish eHealth Agency.
The Swedish eHealth Agency is a government agency that works to digitalise and improve the sharing of information between patients, the healthcare system and pharmacies in Sweden. The Swedish e-Health Agency drives the development of the national digital infrastructure within health and social care.
The Swedish eHealth Agency runs the SNOMED CT National Release Centre, and is responsible for maintaining and distributing the Swedish extension of SNOMED CT. The extension contains translations into Swedish of the preferred terms from the international edition as well as nationally added content which is specific to Swedish health care. The Swedish eHealth Agency, through the National Medication List, maintains one of the larger deployments of SNOMED CT in Sweden.
The National Release Centre is also in charge of user support and training to external stakeholders, and collaborates with other organizations to promote adoption of SNOMED CT. Some of the key adoption projects are presented on SNOMED in Action.
