Including SNOMED CT in our GP Practice Management Software for recording and searching.
Scope
A standard full coding set that will be used as: SNOMED CT will be used in the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), Radiology, clinical documentation, research, decision support, personal health record and for reporting.
a code system to store clinical information (i.e. storing SNOMED CT identifiers in your patient records)
an indexing system to retrieve clinical information (i.e. to find patient records by mapping to SNOMED CT etc.)
a common terminology for communication (i.e. sending SNOMED CT codes to other healthcare providers)
a dictionary to query, analyse and report (i.e. by mapping to SNOMED CT)
a dictionary to link health records to clinical knowledge resources (i.e. clinical decision support, clinical guidelines, clinical research)

SNOMED CT has been selected on a national level to be included in GP documentation.
