Electronic medical record
Description
To support the translation and maintenance of respiratory best practice guidelines and performance indicators for electronic medical records and/or electronic heath records across Canada. PRESTINE will meet the needs of patients, providers, administrators, researchers, and policy makers to facilitate evidence-based clinical care, monitoring, surveillance, benchmarking, and policy development.
Scope
Initially, the pan-Canadian PRESTINE project will target the primary care interdisciplinary team working with asthma and related data elements (2012-14). Application to additional respiratory/lung health conditions will be considered at a later date. Consideration may be given to applicability and adoptability in other health care settings.
How SNOMED CT will be used
SNOMED CT will be cross-referenced to the asthma care map to pilot test feasibility and utility in selected primary care EMRs.
Why SNOMED CT will be used
SNOMED CT is a standardized terminology nomenclature used world-wide and endorsed by Canada Health Infoway.
