At pacode we deeply believe in the advancements SNOMED CT introduces into the world of medical data as it enables medical documentation to be machine understandable, so clinicians receive information they need when they need it. Our projects focus on healthcare software, and we enable our customers to use the best technologies to their problems taking into account not only the development of new systems, but also the efforts that will be needed to maintain it. We have a strong expertise in machine learning and big data solutions that in the clinical environment might relate to medical coding systems and looking for patterns in big datasets of unstructured documentation. For us AI is something more than the very popular field machine learning. There exists a whole set of use cases that might benefit from development of expert systems that help clinicians with decision-making while diagnosing patients. We have applied our skills to develop statistical models that use SNOMED CT to learn patterns from data but also to reason about it as SNOMED CT encodes a lot of knowledge in its relationship model. Being an external software provider, we put a lot of attention to honesty, as we believe this is one of the most important factors to deliver software that fits customer needs.
SNOMED CT-enabled solutions
One of pacode's products is upmedic – intelligent structured documentation editor that makes clinicians more productive while creating medical documentation, e.g. radiological reports. Our software reduces reporting time by 70% and allows hospitals to increase productivity.
We use SNOMED CT to encode observations. Having concept identifiers attached to the pieces of medical narrative, we enable documentation to be automatically translatable to any of the languages supported by SNOMED CT, and we also help with developing Language reference sets for languages that are still waiting for their support, e.g. Polish language. www.upmedic.pl
text-to-snomedct is a deep learning model that is used to provide entity-tagging for unstructured medical documentation. It uses SNOMEDCT as its terminology source. Presented during SNOMED CT International EXPO 2020
