SNOMED International is pleased to announce the release of the Practical Guide to Reference Sets.

SNOMED CT reference sets enable the maintenance and distribution of a wide range of SNOMED CT derivatives, including subsets, maps, navigation hierarchies and ordered lists.

They also provide a standard extensibility mechanism to support effective localization and customization of SNOMED CT.

The Practical Guide to Reference Sets provides an introduction to SNOMED CT reference sets, and explains why, how and where they are used. It also explores the different types of reference sets, and a range of practical approaches to each stage of the reference set life cycle.
