Description
The Ministry of Health is leading a 3-year project to establish a national EHR system which will integrate with health provider systems, patient portals and personal health apps to be the source of truth about medications, adverse reactions, problems, tests, events and care plans.
Scope
In its first phase, EHR development will be centred on patient medications, adverse reactions and problems.
How SNOMED CT will be used
SNOMED CT will be used as the interface and reference terminology to capture and represent all clinical information within the EHR.
Why SNOMED CT will be used
SNOMED CT is endorsed in New Zealand as a standard for all clinical information systems and the EHR.
