The Asia and Pacific region has hosted a number of prominent SNOMED CT events and stakeholder engagement activities in the last quarter of this year. In October, the Asian eHealth Network (AeHIN) general meeting took place in the capital of Sri Lanka, Colombo, and gathered government representatives from over twenty of its member countries. The SNOMED CT implementation workshop that was held during this event allowed us to share the best practise in SNOMED CT implementation. The marketplace day offered participants an opportunity to visit SNOMED CT booth and engage in interactive tutorial sessions. Overall, the AeHIN event highlighted the progress that has been made by many APAC counties towards their eHealth strategy adoption and emphasised the need for adoption of clinical standards to support successful data integration, interoperability and analytics.
Our CEO, Don Sweete, was an invited speaker at the conference held by the Cancer Institute and Hospital of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences (CIHCAMS) in Beijing (China) in late October 2018. SNOMED CT featured as an important standard in supporting the big data management agenda that was outlined by other distinguished speakers at this conference. SNOMED International also held meetings with senior executives of the Centre for Health Statistics and Information of National Health Commission of the P.R.China that will pave a path for collaborative efforts in SNOMED CT adoption in China moving forward.
At the annual HIMSS AsiaPac conference that was held in the sunny Brisbane (Australia) this year, SNOMED International participated as the exhibitor to showcase SNOMED CT to the local attendees from Australia and Asian countries. The presentation about SNOMED CT by our CEO was also well received. And last but not least, we were pleased to visit the National Release Centres of our two member countries - Australia and New Zealand, and meet with the executives, delivery teams and local stakeholders.
